Ronseal Perfect Finish Interior Wax – Product review by Bethan

We’re positive that Ronseal makes products to make your home and garden look and feel great. But we’re always keen to hear what people in the real world think. So we've been asking our Facebook fans if they’d like to pick something from our range - and to let us know all about what happened when they tried it out.
Bethan Ridgeway from Greater Manchester asked if she could try the Perfect Finish Interior Wax to freshen up her kitchen. She didn't want a drastic change – just something to bring older wood back to life. So what did she think? She sent us this great review, with these before and after photos – thanks very much Bethan!
I wanted to do something to refresh my kitchen but I wasn't totally sure where to start. Although I love my wooden units, after 5 years - with three growing sons and a hungry husband - our kitchen is well used, to say the least.
So when Ronseal gave me the opportunity to test the Interior Wax, I jumped at the chance – the perfect opportunity to revamp my kitchen!

Wax Cupboards Before

I chose the Antique Pine colour as it's similar to the existing wood. I wanted a change, but nothing massively different - kind of an improved version of its natural appearance.
I was worried that it might be a bit fiddly but it was actually really simple! We started by washing all of the kitchen units over with white spirit, and then gently sanded the surfaces. After a final wipe over with a damp cloth we were ready to start waxing.
Although it's a wax product, it's applied with a brush, just like paint. Each coat is touch-dry in 20 minutes, but it's best to leave at least an hour between coats.
We did the whole kitchen over a couple of days during the Christmas holidays - two coats the first day then a final coat the following day. I wasn't expecting the kitchen to look that much different but I was pleasantly surprised with the results… my cupboards and units look like they are brand new!
The final result is beautiful and I couldn't be happier with it. The wax is a matt finish but it has a slight sheen, which makes the whole kitchen look fantastic. The preparation stage is a little time-consuming but it's worth it to get great results, which I know are going to last for a long time.
